SALE PENDING Marcia Brown shows a couple of these fascinating "doorknocker" pieces in her 2005 book Coro Jewelry on page 91. This is an older Coro brooch with exacting construction that was so evident in their high end pieces. The metal is a rich gold- tone and you would swear this was an actual doorknocker rather than a piece of costume jewelry. It is that substantial! The knocker section really moves and it is set with a laurel of sorts and a prong set topaz square cut rhinestone. A red glass stone finishes the bottom. Other stones include clear rhinestones and turquoise stones all artfully placed. If you like older costume jewelry that has a whimsical quality, this Coro piece is just the ticket! The hallmark appears on the reverse.  ca. post WWII 1940s to Pre- copyright 1950s.     Condition:  Excellent vintage. The front is in excellent condition with light wear noted while the reverse shows darkening to the metal in several areas that is expected from age.  Measurements:     2 3/4" long and 1 1/2" wide.
