Vintage KORDA Thief of Bagdad Brooch and Bracelet Set|Amazing Adornments.com Signed Vintage Costume Jewelry|Sets and Parures
SOLD This is a fabulous find!
Rice- Wiener
created these pieces for Alexander Korda. There was series of pieces created
coinciding with the 1940s movie. This set is exquisite. Both pieces are heavy
and extremely well made. The metal is antiqued silver- tone. The bracelet has
five panels ornately decorated with sapphire blue pear and marquise shaped
rhinestones, golden faux pearls and lighter blue enamel. The floral at the
center is riveted in place. The clasp also has a blue rhinestone. It is the
fold- over type. The matching brooch has a three sided paisley design. The
decorative section at the center sits above the base. What I find most
fascinating about these rare pieces is that the reverse is equally as ornate as
the front. The hallmark appears on the reverse of both pieces. ca. 1940s.
Condition:
Excellent vintage. One of the last
panels on the bracelet has extra links. I do not know if the piece was made that
way or if a prior owner extended it. Very minor nicks to the faux pearls only
noted when viewing with a loupe. The brooch has some old dried material in red
on the back. I do not know what it is and I do not want to try to clean it. It
can probably be cleaned; however when worn it would not show. Pin rod has a
slight ripple in it. Otherwise only the normal expected wear for pieces this
old.
Measurements: Bracelet: 7" long
and 1 3/4" wide. Brooch: 2 1/2" long and 3" wide.
