SOLD These sweet sterling silver pins were very popular during the 1940s and they also have a patriotic inspiration. It is said that they were based upon the silk and wool figures that the French infantry men were given before departing for war. They both have red Lucite cabochon faces and tiny clear rhinestones about their detailed "rag" costumes. These pieces appear in the book American Costume Jewelry by Carla Ginelli Brunialti and Roberto Brunialti on page 119 and 120 with green cabochons. A must have set for any serious Trifari or WWII period costume jewelry collector. They are both fully hallmarked on the reverse along with their patent numbers. You can view the patents below.
Condition: Excellent vintage. Light expected wear to the vermeil wash. The pin rod on the girl has a slight ripple.
Measurements: Girl [Nanette]: 1 5/8" long and 1 1/4" wide. Boy [Rintintin]: 1 5/8" long and 1 3/8" wide.
