This is a lovely piece that most likely dates to around 1959 based upon the use of the Light Colorado aurora borealis coated crystals and the fact that an ad for jewelry with the dangling crystals appears in the book Collecting Costume Jewelry 202 by Julia Carroll on page 141. The "Vendome Couturier" ad introduces this line as the "Cascade Collection" and she dates the ad to 1959. I have seen a date of 1962 for the same ad. A blue version appears in her earlier book Collecting Costume Jewelry 101 on page 47. The metal is open and textured gold- tone. At the top of each open section sits a clear crystal that is shaped almost like a saucer of flower. Underneath and attached via jump rings are the crystals, which as the name of the line suggests, cascade and move when the wearer does. The hallmark appears on the reverse. Condition: Excellent vintage. Minor plating wear on the pin rod. Measurements: 2 1/2" long and wide.
