SOLD This fabulous and rare necklace was part of a series made in the 1940s by Rice- Weiner inspired by the movie "Thief of Bagdad" directed by Alexander Korda. [Yes, that is the way Baghdad is spelled on the reverse] They were meant to help promote the movie. Rice- Weiner had a licensing agreement to manufacture pieces for several movies during this period. This beauty is of a warmly finished matte gold color. The two paisley shaped design elements are a work of art. Filigree in a cannetille style acts as the base for the stunning flowers of sparkling rhinestones, faux pearls and enamel. The necklace closes with a decorated slide clasp. The hallmark appears on the reverse of one paisley element.
Condition: Excellent vintage. Very little enamel wear and only a few slivers of verdigris on the setting neat a few navettes. The areas are so small the camera barely picked them up. I needed a loupe to find them. It can be cleaned. Otherwise this necklace is in fine vintage condition with plating expected wear especially the back of the clasp.
Measurements: 15" long.
