Louis Rousselet, France was a master bead maker. His beads were both unusual and extremely feminine. Back in the 1920s such stars as Josephine Baker could be spotted wearing his creations. His jewelry sold at French high- end department sores and stores around the world such as Saks Fifth Avenue. Many of the pieces were marked only with a paper hang tag.
The fabulous necklace is to die for! Large baroque pearls are capped with amazing antique finished silver colored findings. Amber colored glass, smaller faux pearls and swirling faux pearls, tear drop in shape are also used. The focal point incorporates all of the mentioned elements and dazzling prong set aurora borealis rhinestones. The necklace closes with a spring ring. The earrings are signed "France" and are attributed to Rousselet by construction and materials used. Beautiful irregular shaped amber colored glass with lovely silver- tone caps mix nicely with the swirled simulated pearls. The earrings are clip- on and they have the signature ear clip used by Rousselet. Please see Ginger Moro's book European Designer Jewelry pages 64- 68 for more information on this designer. Cathy Gordon, author of Miriam Haskell Jewelry has a beautiful page devoted to jewelry made in France. There you can also see this unique earring finding attributed to Rousselet. I have provided the URL in the "View" link below. In my opinion this is a great find as Rousselet jewelry is not easy to attain.
Condition: Excellent vintage. Very minor wear at the earring clip finding consistent with age.
Measurements: Earrings: 2 1/2" long. Necklace: 25" long.
