SOLD This vintage pin is signed by the influential and very talented artist Lea Stein. It is featured in the book Plastic Jewelry of the Twentieth Century by Lillian Baker on page 89. The pins shown are from the Ginger Moro collection. This is one of the older designs dating between 1960- 1981. It is known as Carmen [France] or alternately Joan Crawford [USA]. She has perfectly wavy shoulder length locks in red and gray. Nestled close to her coif is a red bead earring. Her jazzy outfit, complete with shoulder pads, is black with a red lame collar and red moire sleeves. Her skin is creamy from afar, however up close it is striped yellow and cream. Lea Stein developed the lamination process shown in this piece. The material is cellulose acetate and the piece is multi- layered. Her richly colored pieces are all unique and although several of each design was produced, no two are exactly alike! The hallmark appears on the reverse.
Condition: Excellent vintage.
Measurements: 2 1/8" wide and 2" long.
